I am writing a book!
Well that's not exactly news, as I have at least half a dozen unfinished works in progress... but this is something different. After working through several books on writing, I've been cranking out almost 2000 words a day for the last week and a half and this new project is only 2 and half chapters away from being completed. I have several editors lined up and have been busy searching for the best ways to self-publish ebooks.
So what is it? It is a non-fiction book about politics and Jesus - an expansion of what I taught as a part of Introduction to the New Testament at Campbellsville University. I'm presently toying around with the title idea of "Jesus Politics" - more to catch searches than any special tie to that title. It's short and to the point. The book will be more focused than exhaustive. It is not a book to tell you what you should or should not do or how to vote. It is a book about how Jesus engaged and interacted with politics and some of the implications for us today. My goal is that this will be something to make you think, and it will be something you can share with anyone, regardless of political affiliation or religious background, and start some good honest discussion. When it comes to leading and making a difference in the world, I much prefer honest discussion over some of the antics that have been passed off as politics in our country for years.
I plan on sharing a few tidbits from it throughout July, but I hope to have it available online by the end of the month. If I can keep up the pace, the first draft of the entire book should be done by the end of this week.
